Most induction hobs need more power than a normal Dutch socket can deliver. That is what the 5-pole Perilex connection is for — usually combined with an extra circuit in the fuse box.

What is Perilex?

A Perilex socket is a 5-pole connection for high-power appliances. Anything above 3,680 watts — which includes most induction hobs — cannot run safely on a regular socket.

What does it cost?

A complete extra circuit, cable route and Perilex socket typically costs €250 – €600, including VAT. The final amount depends on the distance to the fuse box and available space.

Renting, or new to the Netherlands?

Dutch rental kitchens often have no Perilex connection. Check the meter cupboard before buying an induction hob — a photo is enough for us to tell you what is needed.
